Skolgal

From Caelia Reborn

Commonly known as The Worldspine, He Who Stands Eternal, and The Unbroken Peak

Skolgal is the embodiment of the mountains, not just stone, but endurance made manifest. He is the towering peak that does not yield, the bedrock that holds the world steady, and the silent witness to ages that pass like fleeting storms.

He governs mountains, stone, endurance, resilience, and the unshakable will to stand against all things.

To his faithful, strength is not measured in force, but in what cannot be moved. The mountain does not chase, does not bend, does not yield. It remains.

Among dwarves, Skolgal is revered as both protector and standard. Their halls are carved within him, their fortresses shaped from his body, their lives lived under his silent judgement. He is not worshipped with noise or spectacle, but with steadfastness.

“The storm shouts. The mountain listens. When the storm is gone, the mountain remains.” - Borin Highmantle, Keeper of the Buunmarch Bastion, 0091-2A

The Three Edicts of the Unbroken Peak

1. Stand

To yield without cause is to fail.

  • Hold your ground when it matters
  • Do not be moved by fear, pressure, or threat
  • Retreat is not forbidden, but it must be earned
  • If you stand, stand completely

Skolgal teaches that presence alone can be power.

2. Endure

Time tests all things.

  • Weather hardship without complaint
  • Pain is temporary, weakness is chosen
  • Let the storm break against you, not through you
  • Survival is strength proven over time

Endurance is not passive, it is active resistance.

3. Foundation

What stands must be built upon something true.

  • Know what you stand for
  • Support those who rely on you
  • A weak foundation collapses under pressure
  • Strength without purpose is hollow

To be unbreakable, one must first be grounded.

Most followers lean:

  • Lawful Neutral
  • Lawful Good
  • Neutral

Rarely chaotic. Rarely impulsive. Skolgal values certainty, discipline, and resolve.

Rituals & Traditions

The Vigil of Stone

Followers stand in stillness for extended periods, sometimes hours, sometimes days, proving endurance of body and will.

The Oath of Foundation

Major vows are sworn upon stone, often carved into it, making them both spiritual and physical commitments.

The High Ascent

Pilgrimages to mountain peaks, undertaken not for glory, but for reflection and endurance.

The Unbroken Line

Defenders never break, never retreat and stand strong to the end, symbolising the mountain’s unyielding nature.

Taboos

  • Abandoning a position without just cause
  • Breaking an oath once sworn
  • Showing weakness in the face of minor hardship
  • Acting without purpose or conviction
  • Undermining the stability of others

Skolgal does not punish failure, he condemns collapse of will.

Skolgal’s clergy are often warriors, guardians, and leaders of defensive strongholds.

Let me stand when others fall,

Hold fast when the storm comes,
