The Lands of Cruseryx are varied and diverse, both in the natural environment that can be found, and the manmade structures and cultures that have emerged. The land is split into two main sub-continents Reunith to the west, comprising of the Merric - or human adjacent - races, and Yydraan to the east, making up the regions Beastwalker - or animal adjacent - races.
Reunith
Deriving from the Caelian word for 'Homeland', Reunith is often described by ancient scholars as The Great Land of Men. Reunith makes up the western landmass of the continent of Cruseryx.
History
Regions
The Caelian Heartlands form the ancestral core of the empire, once a sprawling, ancient woodland that sheltered the early Kingdom of Caelia, now transformed into an immense and meticulously managed agricultural expanse that sustains the imperial capital and its ever-growing population.
The Coastal Protectorate stretches along the empire’s western shores, a idealic, sun-soaked expanse of ports, city-states, and vital trade routes. During the Second Age it existed as a loose alliance of powerful coastal states, it now sits under imperial authority as a semi-autonomous region, governed through the influential Coastal Council.
The Westerlands lie in the empire’s northern heart, a harsh, wind-scoured region where the land grows thin, the air bites deep, and survival depends on endurance as much as loyalty. Though not buried beneath endless snow, the cold here is constant and creeping, shaping both the land and those who endure it. At its center runs the great western road, the vital artery that binds the western coast of the empire to Caelia itself.
Elsir Vale is a land apart, hemmed in by the looming Wyrmsmoke Mountains and the vast, impenetrable Great Woad. It is a region defined by silence, secrecy, and self-reliance, where dense forests swallow sound and history is guarded as fiercely as any fortress. Though now nominally part of the empire, the Vale remains inward looking, its people shaped by centuries of isolation and quiet vigilance.
Reachfold sits at the far southwestern edge of the empire; a land defined by distance, difficulty, and scars that have never truly healed. Cut off by geography and forever marked by the devastation of the Second Primordial War, it is a region where survival is hard won and the land itself feels resistant to life.
The Northern Realms stretch across the empire’s upper reaches, where cold winds settle and snow lingers long into the year. Shielded from the warming currents of the western coasts by a formidable mountain chain, this land endures a harsher, truer winter, one that shapes its people into something as unyielding as the land itself.
The Kingdom of Ebonmount rises from the south-eastern reaches of the continent, a monumental convergence of stone, steel, and sovereignty. Formed around a colossal X shaped mountain range, it is both a natural fortress and a feat of dwarven mastery. At its heart lies the Greater Kingdom of Ebonmount, while four lesser kingdoms anchor each arm of the mountains, forming a unified yet distinct dwarven dominion. Beneath it all, the deep roads descend into the Underdark, making Ebonmount not just a kingdom, but a gateway to the world below.
Yydraan
The Beastial Protectorate sprawls across the vast deserts of central Yydraan, a land of blazing sun, shifting dunes, and relentless survival. Here, the beastial races no longer act as scattered tribes, but as a unified protectorate born from Imperial reign. In a region where the land itself is an adversary, strength, adaptability, and instinct have shaped a culture as fierce as it is deeply rooted in balance.
The Celestial Isle is less a physical place than a mystery given form, an isolated landmass veiled in powerful magic and guarded by beings older and more enigmatic than most mortals can comprehend. It is the domain of the gemstone dragons and their kin, ruled by the Celestial Court under the Amethyst Progenitor Bellasantrax. Those who reach its shores rarely return unchanged… and those who leave seldom remember enough to explain why.
The Ashen Wastes are a land that should not still exist. Once a thriving homeland of the dragonborn; rich with forests, mountains, and ancient power, it was annihilated in a single cataclysm when Mount Pyre erupted over three millennia ago. What remains is not merely ruin, but a scar upon the world itself, where magic and devastation have fused into something unnatural and enduring.
The Barrowlands lie hidden among the northernmost reaches of Yydraan, a stark expanse of snowbound plains, jagged mountains, and ancient burial grounds. It is a land untouched by imperial rule, where scattered tribes endure beneath a shared ancestry older than any empire. Here, the past is never buried, it is only waiting beneath the frost.
Loreini Archipelago
The Loreini Archipelago drifts like a jeweled chain across the western seas, a constellation of sun-soaked islands, turquoise waters, and gentle winds. Beneath its serene beauty lies a long-standing aristocracy of nobles, whose dominion over the tides and trade has shaped the region for generations. Though now part of the empire, Loreini remains distinct, its loyalty secured not by conquest, but by careful negotiation and political inclusion.
