Second Primordial War
More actions
On the first eve of November, 5 EC, our worlds greatest enemy returned. Although not amongst the original Primordials that had created the planet that we called home, these distant cousins had heard of the slaughter of their kin, and had finally come to enact their vengeance upon the world.
Arriving at our planet without any warning, we only knew of their existance after they severed the bridge between the Mundane World and the Heavenly Plane, leaving much of the direct connection between mortals and gods in ruin. They were not subtle or secretive from that point, and announced to all that they, Bazrak, Arkaan and Nagash would bring swift death and destruction upon those that had slain their kin.
Unlike their predecessors, these three Primordials, which we came to know as The Vengeful were unified in purpose and acted as one in a cold and calculated manner. They had decided to focus their efforts, crushing and conquering Cruseryx, and using it as a staging ground to annihilate the rest of the planet. Unfortunately for them, they'd chose a bad time to threaten Cruseryx, and were met each and every time on the field of battle by The Caelian Empire.
The Empire was fortunately in its 'Waxing' phase, and was at the peak of its military power in the 2 millennia long history that it boasted. The Imperial Legion stood as the premier organised fighting force in the known history of mankind and showed no fear when charging into battle against this godlike threat. Alongside the Empire and its Legions stood the Celestial Court, a Gemstone Dragon matriarchy led by Bellasantrax that brought much needed firepower to the battles and helped to fill the void that losing the gods had left.
Bazrak, Arkaan and Nagash did not walk upon the battlefields themselves most times, either raising hordes of undead, ripping demons from the Abyss or creating pacts with elemental creatures to bring ruin upon their opponents.
As if history was repeating itself, it was a single event that acted as the catalyst for victory in this conflict. The creation of the , an artifact capable of killing a god itself - permanently. The process of forging this artifact came at great cost, but was ultimately the reason that Caelia could claim victory over the new Primordial threat. Both Bazrak and Arkaan were destroyed upon the field of battle, Nagash had much of his physical form destroyed but they were never able to find the remains of his soul.
