Symbol: A silver sword wreathed in red flame, pointing downward in front of a rotated crescent moon.
Justice must not only be done. It must be felt. - High Solar Umbra
Azurius embodies the elven belief that wrongdoing leaves a spiritual stain upon the world. That stain must be burned away. Mercy has its place, but justice that carries no consequence invites further corruption. He cares little for the laws of men, only that his justice is maintained, regardless of whether that be in a mortal court or at the tip of a flame wreathed blade.
The Five Fires of Judgment
All clergy are trained in these principles. Sworn Justicars typically swear binding devotion to at least two.
1. Truth Before Blade
- Judgment must rest upon certainty
- Investigation precedes punishment
- False accusation is itself a grave sin
Azurius teaches patience before fury. To strike wrongly is to wound justice itself.
2. Wrath is a Tool
- Anger must be sharpened, not indulged
- Emotion fuels resolve but does not command it
- Rage without discipline dishonors the god
Devout followers train in meditation to master their fury rather than suppress it.
3. The Crime Demands Answer
- Every deliberate harm requires consequence
- Forgiveness does not erase accountability
- Justice delayed too long becomes injustice
Azurius is often invoked when other courts have failed.
4. Protect the Innocent
- The powerless are under divine protection
- To stand idle before cruelty is complicity
- Authority exists to shield, not dominate
This principle makes Azurius deeply respected among the common folk.
5. Let the Punishment Fit the Wound
- Vengeance must be proportional
- Excess cruelty corrupts the avenger
- Justice should restore balance, not create further imbalance
Failure to abide by the 5th Flame can often lead Paladins of Azurius down a dark and unforgiving path.
Moral Philosophy
The Church of Azurius is typically:
- Lawful Good among high elven courts
- Neutral Good among wandering wardens
- Lawful Neutral among militant justicars
Azurius rarely tolerates cruelty disguised as righteousness.
Worship Among the Elves
Temples are quiet, austere, and immaculate.
Common practices include:
- Moonlit oath ceremonies
- Public hearings beneath open sky
- Ritual duels to resolve grave accusations
- Crimson-flame braziers lit during trials
Elven society often integrates Azurius directly into governance. Judges, magistrates, and executioners frequently serve as ordained clergy.

The greatest sin in Azurius’ faith is hypocrisy.
Clergy Structure
- Ember Initiate
- Moon Justicar
- Ruby Arbiter
- High Flame of Reckoning
Most clergy are trained warriors or scholars of law. Many are both.
Symbolism
Azurius’ iconography is sharp and luminous.
Common symbols:
- A sword of deep red fire
- A balanced scale tipped by a single glowing ember
- A crescent moon illuminating a battlefield
- A tear-shaped ruby set in silver
Red flame represents righteous wrath. It burns clean, leaving no smoke.
Unlike gods of chaos or fury, Azurius is depicted calm, eyes bright with contained fire.
Clerics / Paladins of Azurius as Adventurers
- They listen carefully before speaking
- They do not laugh at cruelty
- They react strongly to injustice
- Their anger, when shown, is precise and terrifying
A follower of Azurius might:
- Insist on verifying accusations before acting
- Advocate protecting civilians at personal risk
- Push to pursue escaping villains rather than letting them regroup
- Refuse bribes or political compromise
- Demand accountability even from allies
“Crimson Flame,
Let my sight be clear,
May those above forgive my wrath
And those below receive it.”
