The new arrivals in Phandalin are already making waves in the village. They have joined me in the prestigious role of delivering supplies and relieving the blockade in place by our Goblinoids friends. I know that both Barthan and Linene had contracted supplies from Neverwinter, but these folk are the only ones to have made it. After offloading their goods with Barthan, he has presumable briefed them on the current predicament that the village finds itself in, and these ratcatchers seem altruistic enough to try and do something about it.
I spoke to Barthan after, and he says that the group was going to head over to the Tresendar Estate and see if they can't get those Redbrand Ruffians to back off and leave the townsfolk alone. Perhaps these folk and I will get along.
They worked their way through the estate, clearing the underground complex of both Redbrands and Goblinoids with ease. During their search, they also stumbled across Mirna, Nars & Nilsa Dendrar, who had been taking prisoner some days past after the murder of the husband a fortnight ago. They family were very busy singing the praises of our new friends when they returned to the inn.
Resting within the bowels of the estate, whilst helpful for our group of ratcatchers, did allow for the illusive Glasstaff to slink away into the shadows once again. With the underground complex now emptied of foes (I have chosen not to include the unreasonable explosion within the estate to preserve my sanity), the party was able to rummage through the belongings of Glasstaff and came across alchemical equipment and evidence that he was making progress towards brewing potions of invisibility.
Alongside the brewing equipment, they also discovered an old Dwarven journal, detailing the discovery of Wave Echo Cave by the Stonecleaver clan some hundred years ago and a black paper letter, embossed with a white spider on its front.
The iconography is reminiscent to Lolth, but assumption is the death of wisdom.
