Symbol: A crimson diamond split by a silver diagonal line (representing a battlefield divided and conquered).

Known more commonly (both by her own followers and the public as a whole) as The Red Knight, Torina represents the ancient and respected divine seat of Strategy. As one of the close knit sub-pantheon; The War Diamond, she holds unwavering belief and commitment to overcoming any and all challenges through strategic outmanoeuvring.

The Seven Strategic Tenets

Her paladins must swear to at least three, but temples teach all seven as facets of a unified philosophy.

1. The Grand Plan (Strategy)

War is a tapestry, not a duel.

  • Every battle is part of a larger design.
  • Accept short term loss for long term gain.
  • A commander must see beyond the horizon.

Torina teaches multi-generational thinking. Dynasties rise and fall on foresight.

2. Execution (Tactics)

A plan that cannot adapt is already dead.

  • Know terrain, supply lines, morale, and timing.
  • Strike weakness, reinforce strength.
  • Withdraw without shame if it preserves the greater goal.

Improvisation is not chaos, it is intelligent adjustment.

3. Vigilance

Peace is preparation time.

  • Train relentlessly.
  • Study enemy cultures.
  • Expect betrayal.
  • Fortify before it is needed.

Torina’s clergy are often embedded in courts, guilds, and armies long before war erupts.

4. Honour

Strategy without restraint becomes atrocity.

  • Do not break oaths without ritual release.
  • Do not slaughter the defenseless.
  • Do not betray those under your banner.

Torina permits cunning, not cruelty.

5. Cunning

The battlefield does not reward naivety.

  • Feints, misinformation, spies, psychological warfare.
  • Win before the first sword is drawn.
  • Deception is permitted if it prevents greater bloodshed.

Among followers, there is constant philosophical debate about where Honour ends and Cunning begins.

6. Courage

Fear clouds judgment.

  • Trust the plan.
  • Trust your command.
  • Hold formation.

Cowardice is a failure of discipline.

Recklessness is a failure of strategy.

7. Sacrifice

The hardest lesson.

  • Sometimes lives must be spent to save more.
  • A commander must bear the weight of necessary loss.
  • Compassion must not sabotage the greater objective.

Torina’s clergy are taught to mourn privately, never publicly question necessary losses.

Theological Position in the War Diamond

Torina does not glorify bloodshed.

She glorifies winning correctly.

If the other War Diamond deities represent:

  • Fury
  • Glory
  • Justice

Torina represents Precision.

In inter-pantheon politics, she is often the moderating voice.

Moral Alignment Tendencies

Most followers:

  • Lawful Neutral
  • Lawful Good
  • Occasionally Lawful Evil (hardline strategists)

Religious Practices

The Board of Red Sand

Temples maintain large tactical tables filled with red sand. Clergy rehearse historical battles, move carved pieces, and debate outcomes.

Even children in Torina aligned families learn strategy games.

The Oath of Three

When swearing service, a paladin chooses three tenets to embody.

Their armor often bears three small silver inlays representing these commitments.

The Silent Hour

Before major campaigns, commanders spend one silent hour in contemplation before Torina’s sigil.

Speaking during this hour is forbidden.

The Aftermath Ledger

Every battle’s losses are recorded in detail.

Failure to record the dead is considered strategic negligence, you cannot learn from what you do not measure.

Taboos

  • Charging without order.
  • Refusing to retreat when commanded.
  • Wasting lives for pride.
  • Ignoring intelligence.
  • Letting emotion override structure.

Clergy Structure

Titles

  • Scarlet Acolyte – Initiate
  • Field Adjudicator – Tactical advisor
  • Battle Prelate – War-priest attached to armies
  • Red Praetor – Regional commander
  • Crimson Marshal – High priest or war council leader

Many clergy are not frontline fighters but strategic advisors.

Clerics / Paladins of Torina as Adventurers

  • Rarely surprised.
  • Speaks carefully.
  • Observes before acting.
  • Always thinks three steps ahead.
  • Keeps contingency plans.
  • Hates unpredictability but prepares for it.

A follower of Torina might:

  • Track enemy movement patterns.
  • Insist on scouting.
  • Design ambushes.
  • Argue against emotional decisions.

“Lady of the Measured Blade,

Grant me clarity before conflict,

Discipline in action,

And victory worthy of its cost.”
