Death is not the end, it is the fulfillment of fate. The Raven Queen governs the boundary where mortal story meets inevitability. She does not cause every death, nor does she delight in slaughter. She ensures that every soul meets the destiny woven for it.

The Shadow Edicts

All clergy are bound by these principles.

1. Death Comes for All

• No mortal escapes the end
• Undeath is an abomination against destiny
• Those who unnaturally prolong life invite divine correction

The Raven Queen’s faithful are relentless hunters of powerful undead.

2. Fate Is Woven, Not Random

• Events unfold according to deeper design
• Prophecy is a glimpse of pattern, not a prison
• Even tragedy has place in the tapestry

Some of her followers study omens, dreams, and patterns of coincidence.

3. Memory Is Sacred

• The dead must be remembered
• Names hold power
• Forgotten souls drift in shadow

Unlike Sesher, who governs rites of passage, the Raven Queen guards the essence and memory of the departed.

4. Emotion Is a Fragment of Power

• Extreme sorrow, love, hatred and obsession linger after death
• The Raven Queen gathers powerful memories
• Devotees learn to master their grief rather than be consumed by it

Exemplifying her dominion over lost memories and powerful emotions.

5. Do Not Fear the Inevitable

• Accept fate with dignity
• Meet death with composure
• Desperation at the final hour weakens the soul

Her faithful often appear eerily calm in mortal danger.

6. Sever What Must Be Severed

• When fate demands an ending, it must be enforced
• Mercy cannot override destiny
• Some lives are threads that must be cut early for the pattern to hold

• Occasionally Lawful Evil executors who believe destiny justifies severity

Clergy Structure

The following roles are attributed primarily to the Church of The Matron*, and are not always applicable to the Children of the Matron**.

Many serve as oracles, assassins of destiny, or quiet attendants to the dying.

*The Church of The Matron is the formally recognised religious movement that encompasses the churches, official rites and clergy of The Raven Queen.

**The Children of The Matron are the informal organised network of agents that devote themselves to The Raven Queen and spread themselves out in the world to ensure her will is done.

Cleric / Paladin of The Raven Queen as Adventurers

Followers of the Raven Queen are restrained and observant.

• They speak softly but with certainty
• They do not panic at death
• They dislike loose ends
• They show little tolerance for necromancy

In an adventuring party, a cleric, paladin or warlock devoted to her might:

• Counsel acceptance when resurrection magic is debated
• Quietly execute a villain whose destiny has ended
• Interpret dreams and portents seriously
• Remain unnervingly calm when facing overwhelming odds
