Cultures

High Elves

The High Elf population of Cruseryx were once the predominant race throughout the continent, however after the ashes had cleared following the First Primordial War, many of them returned to their great spires or fled back to their creators paradise; the Feywilds.

Wood Elves

The Wood Elves remained in their forests and woodland groves throughout all of the various Ages, allowing the troubles of the world to pass them by. As the times of chaos and war began subsiding, they allowed themselves to join the wider society and integrate with the remaining races of Cruseryx.

Drow

Drow, unlike their fair skinned kin, have scarcely made any real impact on the surface world, choosing to keep to their own complex and politically driven plots in the Underdark. Woe be to any surface dweller than finds themselves in the unfortunate sights of a Drow Matriarch, as they will soon find themselves surrounded by Doppelganger spies and Drow assassins.

Astral Elves

Astral Elves are few and far between here in the Mundane World, and only come to this Plane of Existence for trade, exploration or to hide themselves from their enemies. Found mostly aboard seafaring style ships that sail the Astral Sea, they are often flamboyant and outgoing, much like corsairs and privateers of the seas.

Half-Elves

Half-Elves are the offspring of - typically - Humans and Elves and represent one of the largest demographics in Cruseryx. Regardless of the derogatory nature of the comments, they are usually described universally as 'Better Humans' or 'Worse Elves'. Which type of Elven linage they come from is often obvious from their skins complexion, natural hair style or their innate skills and interests.

Shadar-Kai

Shadar-Kai are an outlier in this list, being descendants of the same Elven ancestors as all the other cultures, however they have inhabited the Shadowfell, a dark and bleak land for eons. Watched over and guided by The Matron, they live mostly in voluntary servitude to her will and act as emissaries to the threads of fate throughout the Planescapes.

Origins

Elves began their existance as a product of Aluneire, who, upon seeing the wonders of the Eladrin, wished to try her own hand at creating a species of great beauty and grace. The first Elves lived peacefully and blissfully under the guidance of Aluneire, but the natural course of evolution eventually began splitting in various directions, leading to the wide variety of Elven peoples.

Appearance

Typically tall and slender, Elves often exude an air of superiority and majesty with even the most mundane actions. The surface dwelling Elves share many complexions with their Human counterparts, with varying tones based on where they are located in Cruseryx. The Drow sport a much darker skin tone, comparable to cool charcoal or slate and Shadar-Kai sit at the opposite end of the spectrum, having deathly pale skin.
