After clearing the Tresendar Estate, the ratcatchers returned to the tavern, losing one of their members along the way - how convenient. Toblen was his usual welcoming self, and got the newcomers sorted with food and drinks, which is when I took my opportunity to step in and introduce myself and Vershan. It was perfect timing, the group was in need of someone to replace their Dragonborn friend, and I was in need some way of keeping my feathered follower out of trouble.
I was of course very generous, and offered my help finding information that they would usually be woefully unequipped to find, which they accepted in the form of that peculiar little Black Letter. The Genasi was hesitant to give it to me, but I don't blame her for that shortcoming. After finishing their business with me, they went for a walk around Phandalin, saying hello to everyone they could and collecting a long list of grievances and tasks that needed completing.
Among these tasks were a request to look into the outlander at Old Owl Well and rid the area of the Orc presence at Wyvern Tor.
Old Owl Well was the first stop on their journey, where after a short scuffle with the undead creations of Thay mage, Haman Kost, they agreed to speak to the infamous 'Diviner' over around Conyberry. I cannot entirely condone the act of being amicable with a Thay necromancer, but I understand making temporary alliances where needed.
Thundertree, or the ruins of the village that was once Thundertree, were the next stop on their tour of the local area as they were in search of the Druid, Reidoth. After a close call to burn down the village, the ratcatchers found Reidoth in his safehouse and convinced him to help them traverse the forests around Phandalin so they can seek out the Orcish threat. Reidoth's condition for his assistance was the removal of a Young Green Dragon called Venomfang that had made the ruins of Thundertree its nesting ground. If I am being completely honest, I had thought this task beyond them, and that another promising group of adventurers would find themselves in a shallow grave. Much to my surprise, they were successful in ridding the area of its draconic threat and claimed its treasure horde for themselves.
