Uion

From Caelia Reborn

Commonly known as The Gilded Reflection

Uion represents the divine seat of Aesthetic Perfection, the pursuit of beauty in form, word, performance, and presence. Where some gods demand discipline and others demand devotion, Uion demands elevation. He governs art, renown, reputation, seduction, performance, and the intoxicating pursuit of admiration. To his faithful, beauty is not vanity, it is refinement of existence.

In Merric culture, Uion is patron of artists, nobles, performers, and those who seek legacy beyond mortality. In other regions, he is sometimes viewed with suspicion, associated with decadence or excess.

“Steel wins battles. Stone builds cities. But beauty? Beauty decides what is remembered.” - Lysandria Valeheart, 0577-3A

The Five Radiant Virtues

Uion’s clergy teach five principles that guide the pursuit of Beauty and Fame.

1. Presentation

The world judges by what it sees.

  • Dress with intent.
  • Speak with clarity.
  • Stand with purpose.

Appearance is not deception, it is declaration.

2. Refinement

Beauty is cultivated, not stumbled upon.

  • Practice relentlessly.
  • Polish every gesture.
  • Correct flaws without self-pity.

Raw talent without discipline is squandered potential.

3. Recognition

What is beautiful must be witnessed.

  • Art hidden is art wasted.
  • Great deeds must be remembered.
  • A legacy requires audience.

Uion teaches that anonymity is a quiet death.

4. Indulgence

Pleasure is not sin when chosen with awareness.

  • Celebrate victories.
  • Love passionately.
  • Taste the fullness of existence.

However, indulgence without control becomes self destruction.

5. Legacy

Beauty fades. Fame echoes.

  • Carve your name into culture.
  • Leave behind songs, statues, movements.
  • Be remembered not for survival, but for brilliance.

Uion’s highest aspiration is not admiration in life, but remembrance after death.

Moral Alignment Tendencies

Most followers lean:

  • Neutral
  • Chaotic Neutral
  • Lawful Neutral (courtly traditions)

Rarely ascetic. Rarely self-denying. Evil interpretations exist among those who value fame above morality.

Religious Practices

The Mirror Vigil

Followers spend time in silent self-reflection before polished surfaces, considering how they present themselves to the world.

The Night of Lanterns

Temples host festivals celebrating art, performance, and achievement. Masks are worn to explore alternate identities.

The Chronicle of Names

Temples record accomplishments of artists, nobles, and heroes. Being inscribed is a mark of cultural immortality.

Taboos

  • Willful self-neglect.
  • Destroying works of beauty without cause.
  • Jealous sabotage of another’s talent.
  • Allowing talent to rot unused.

Uion tolerates rivalry, but despises mediocrity.

Clergy Structure

Titles

  • Gilded Acolyte – Initiate
  • Luminary – Performer-priest
  • Mirror Warden – Keeper of temple arts
  • Radiant Curator – Regional leader
  • Grand Paragon – High priest of Uion

Many clergy are artists, courtiers, diplomats, or patrons of culture.

Clerics / Paladins of Uion as Adventurers

  • Immaculately kept armor or attire.
  • Careful with speech and posture.
  • Appreciates aesthetics even in danger.
  • Values reputation.
  • Keeps trophies not as proof of victory, but as symbols of story.

A follower of Uion might:

  • Insist on dramatic entrances.
  • Preserve ancient art during dungeon delves.
  • Encourage the party to build renown.
  • Negotiate in public rather than private.

“Gilded Lord of Reflection,

Let my name shine without stain,

Let my works outlive my breath,

And let the world remember me

As more than dust.”
